Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am. Bigger and stronger too. But none of them will ever love you the way I do. It’s me and you.

Day 5 – Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rain was predicted, so we packed ponchos and umbrella.  There were also predicted winds, so we forewent the shorts and did jeans again.  We had no rain at all and it was warm.  The winds were nice, with that though.  We had leftover pizza and poptarts in the room for breakfast and then took the bus to the parks.

First, we headed over to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  We got to walk right on.  Em was scared of this one, but by the end of the day, she declared it was her favorite.  She was too short to do the Rockin’ Roller Coaster, so Chris and I took turns. We then went over to Toy Story Mania.  This one’s supposed to be really crowded, but we didn’t have a problem at all.  We walked right on and it was really fun.  We did go ahead and get Fast Passes for later, but we didn’t really need to bother.  Prince Caspian was next.  It was a waste of time.  It was a long movie trailer and you had to stand the whole time.  Next we did Voyage of the Little Mermaid. It was cute little thing with a live Ariel and Eric and puppets for everyone else.

We headed up to go to the ABC Commisary and saw characters around the Sorcerer’s Hat, so Em met Donald and Daisy and then Piglet and Pooh.  Goofy, Pluto, Stitch, and Minnie were in other places, but the lines were long and Em had already met them.  We then went to the Commisary for lunch.  This place was nice.  The sandwiches were big and the decoration was understated but nice with posters of the ABC tv shows.  Chris had a burger with shrimp on top with fries and strawberry shortcake.  I had a Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich with fries and chocolate Mousse.  Em had a cheeseburger and fries and saved her chocolate chip cookie for a snack later.

After lunch we did The Great Movie Ride.  It was alright, but a bit boring.  We headed over and did the Studio Backlot Tour. This was neat, but not fabulous.  By this time in the trip, Chris and I were rating things as awesome if you got to sit down for an extended period of time!  Yes, we’re old.  We took Em by the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure.  This was just a soft play set with slides and stuff, but Em liked it.  We went back to the Sorcerer’s Hat in time to see Disney Rocks.  This was a little float that rode in with performers singing and dancing to songs ongs from Camp Rock, High School Musical, and others.  Em LOVED this. She danced the whole time and even went up to dance with them during one number.  After the show, a cast member from that as well as a general cast member came over to say Happy Birthday.  The general one gave her a bday card signed by Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Chip N Dale and Pooh!

Next we went back to Toy Story Mania to use our Fast Passes.  We stopped by and Em had her pictures taken with Mater and Lighting from Cars.  We went to see Jim Henson’s MuppetVision 3D.  This was okay.  By then it was time for the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade.  There were characters from Up, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, A Bug’s Life, and The Incredibles. Em wanted to go back to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure so we did.  Chris went in with Em while I rested.  Em ended up losing the charm bracelet she had while she was there and couldn’t get it back.  We got to see the last showing of the Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show after that.  The last part with the fire and fireworks scared Em.  We went into Sounds Dangerous after that.  It was meh, but Em liked it though.  You’d think they’d have done something different in 10 years!  We stopped by the Muppet Store and got Em another charm bracelet before dinner.

Dinner was at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano.  It was yum.  We also had a very nice waitress.  I had steak with potatoes.  (By this time, I’m realizing that I’ve now had steak twice and we’re going to a steak house on Friday night.  Oh well, what are vacations for anyway?)  Chris had chicken parmesan.  Em had minestrone (she didn’t like it) and penne with cheese sauce.  Chris and I both had a REALLY yum amaretto cheesecake for dessert and Em had this cute cupcake that was iced to look like spaghetti and meatballs.  So neat.  She loved it.  Chris and I, along with our waitress, sang Happy Birthday to her when they brought it out.  The waitress also brought her this hand-colored chef’s hat.  She wanted to keep it of course.  After dinner we came back to the room for the evening.  My little toe was giving me some problems later in the day and my feet were hurting too, but they started really hurting later in the day, so that’s good.
