So, on Star Trek (pick your flavor, they all do it as much as I can remember), they touch their com badges to talk throughout the ship, yes? How does the badge know when to stop transmitting. Also, a lot of times you can see them connect with someone somewhere else with their badge. They say something to them. Then, they say an aside to someone in the room with them that the person on the other end of the com badge isn’t supposed to hear. Then they talk to the person on the other end again. How does the computer know which statements to transmit and which ones not to?
